Up Early? Make Cookies - Kenn

Early Saturday morning was a great time to make cookies.

First up, Milk Chocolate Cookies (page 79). With no bars of milk chocolate in the house, chocolate chips (milk chocolate) were used as a substitute.

Next up was a twist on the traditional sugar cookie. Instead of cutting out the cookies, the dough was rolled into a rough log shape and cut. After cutting, the cookies were coated with cinnamon sugar and then baked. The traditional cut out sugar cookie recipe is found on page 241, but the cinnamon sugar idea was my grandmothers. These are excellent with a nice cup of tea for an afternoon snack!

Two packages of the cinnamon sugar cookies are already wrapped to take to friends this afternoon. Getting an early start to the day proved to be productive!

A Wonderful Classic - Peanut Butter Cookies - Elaine

Peanut Butter cookies are one of those classic cookies that nearly everyone loves. Elaine has been busy baking this family favorite as a surprise 'goodie' for her husband. Taken from page 184 in the Martha Stewart Cookies book, Elaine commented, "The whole peanuts make them crunchy-different from the ones I usually make. I like them!"

Another great cookie from the new Martha Stewart Cookie's bible. Carrot Cake Cookies with Cream Cheese filling.... you can find the recipe by clicking the link or if you have the special Holiday Cookies issue from 2001 that is Martha of course! And the Martha wire wear tray that I love, I think I may need about 2 more of those trays. I hope Martha makes some other shapes too, I could use a square one.
